Synanthedon vespiformis (Linnaeus, 1761)

A rare species throughout Belgium, can be locally common in certain places.

The larva bores into the stem or branches of mainly Quercus, much rarer on other deciduous trees. Hibernates as larva.

The adults fly from May till July. They are active during daytime.
