Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Thyris fenestrella (Scopoli, 1763)

Restricted to the three most south-eastern provinces of Belgium where the species is still rare and not abundant. Recently (2009) a specimen was observed in the province of Limburg, not far from the border of the province of Liège. This was the first record for Flanders.

The larva lives on Clematis vitalba. Hibernates as a pupa spun between leaves of the food plant.

The adults have been observed from early May till early August in two generations a year. They are active during sunny days.
