Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Nemaxera betulinella (Paykull, 1785)

A rare species, not so often observed in Belgium. As with many of the Tineidae, this species is probably underrecorded. At present known from five provinces.

The larva lives on bracket-fungi, especially Piptoperus betulinus but also in dead wood. Pupation takes places in the fungus or wood.

The adults have been observed from beginning of May till end of September. During the day, they rest in crevices of bark and later on they come occasionally to light.
