A
common species throughout Belgium.
The
larva makes large, whitish mines on the upper surface of Quercus
leaves, sometimes also on Castanea, occasionally several mines can be found on one leaf. Pupation takes
place in a round chamber constructed in the larval feeding place. The
pupa hibernates.
The
adults fly in May and June. During favourable years, a second generation
develops of which the moths are on the wing in August. The moths come
to light.
ID
mine: a flat whitish blotch on top of leaf, the mine is lined with silk
and is free of frass, which is ejected through a slit at the edge of
the mine.
