Acleris rufana ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A rare species in Belgium.

The larva lives in a neat tube of leaves spun around the stem of Myrica. It has also been observed to live on Salix caprea, Populus alba, and Filipendula ulmaria. Pupation in a silken cocoon amongst dead leaves or in the earth. The imago hibernates.

The adults fly from late August till early May. The moths are active from the evening onwards and come to light.
