Found
in the south of Belgium and at the sea coast. In coastal areas,
a lighter form lacking the plumbeous edging is not rare (see More
pictures).
The
larva lives in the roots and the rootstock of Picris hieracioides,
P. echioides, Hieracium, Crepis or Inula
conyza. The larva hibernates.
The
adults have been observed from May till the end of August. They
are active in sunshine.
