Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Gynnidomorpha alismana (Ragonot, 1883)

A very rare species in Belgium, not often recorded. Hitherto less than 10 observations, but probably overlooked.

The larva feeds in a flower-stem of Alisma plantago-aquatica. It hibernates full-fed from October in a grey, silken cocoon in the lowar part of the stem. Pupation in the stem.

The adults have been observed from June till August.  They are active at dusk and later occasionally come to light.
