A
very common, and also very variable species throughout Belgium.
The
larva lives in a folded leaf or between spun leaves of a great variety
of plants: Acer, Alnus glutinosa, Corylus, Quercus, Salix,
Vaccinium, Tilia, Betula, Ulmus, Lysimachia and
Sorbus. Some larvae hatch in late summer and hibernate in a
spinning on a twig. Others hatch in spring, feeding first in a bud and
then on a leaf. Pupation in a whitish cocoon in a folded leaf or the
larval habitation.
The
adults fly from early May till the end of September. They are active
from dusk and later frequently come to light.
