A
common species throughout Belgium.
The
larvae live gregariously in a silken web on Prunus spinosa,
Crataegus, and different species of Prunus.
The
adults fly July and August. They come to light.
ID: identification of imago of following species as cagnagella, malinellus and padella are
only with 100 % certainty done by reference to the genitalia. An
aid to identify this species is the grey or whitish forewing with
terminal cilia concolorous with adjacent part of wing, but this is a
guide! In many cases the best guide to separate these species is often
the foodplant!
