This rare and local species is only known from a few localities in three southern provinces.
The
larva lives on Lotus spp., Coronilla spp. and Hippocrepis comosa. Cocoon detached on the stems of grasses.
The
adults fly in June and July. They are active during the day.
ID: rather similar to Z. filipendulae,
but separated by the red suffusion on the forewing underside, dark
edging of the forewing spots (sometimes hardly visible), the
characteristic brown or white tip of the antenna and an imaginary line
parallel with the body and drawn between spots 3 and 4 wouldn't touch
them.
