Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Pancalia leuwenhoekella (Linnaeus, 1761)

Still an uncommon species, but it can be locally fairly common, especially in the chalk and limestone area's in the southern part of Belgium.

The larva lives at first mining in a petiole of Viola hirta and later in a silken gallery in the rootstock.

The adults fly from mid April till mid June, sometimes as late as mid July. They are active during the day in bright sunshine.
