of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Boloria selene ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A local species currently occurring only in the south of Belgium, where it is known from three provinces. Vulnerable! Before, some localities were known in Flanders, but the species is extinct there now.

The larva lives on Viola riviniana and Viola palustris.

The adults fly in two generations a year: from mid May till the end of June and a partial generation from early July till the end of August.
