Present
throughout Belgium, though mainly occurring rather local.
The
larva lives in a loose, silken gallary under dead bark of various
trees, like Quercus, Fraxinus, Larix, Pinus,
Picea abies, Tsuga heterophylla, Prunus, Corylus,
etc. especially when the tree is infected with Armilleriella
mellia. Pupation in a silken cocoon covered with frass in the
feeding place.
The
adults fly during May and June. They are active in early morning
sunshine and hide during the rest of the day.
